Are the courses self-paced?

No, FTTA Online courses are not self-paced. There are lessons and written assignments that must be completed on time each week. But you do not have to be online at the same time with the other learners in your class. You can do your weekly assignments at any time, day or night.

C

Can I change my time zone during the term?

We highly recommend that you do not change your time zone once you set it. There may be a situation where someone is traveling to a different city for a period of time during the term and they would like to change their time zone to the city they are traveling to. This is fine. However, you must realize that when you change your time zone, the time stamp on all of your assignments changes to the new time zone. It is possible that some assignments that were submitted on time could be marked late because changing the time zone also changed the submission time of the assignments. Please keep this in mind if you decide to change your time zone during the term.

Can I drop a course?

A learner may drop a class according to the following deadlines and conditions:
• through the completion of the first week (i.e., 24 hours after Week 1 grades are posted)
    - refund of US$180
    - no requirement to retake the course in the future
• through the completion of the second week (i.e., 24 hours after Week 2 grades are posted)
    - no refund of course payment
    - no requirement to retake the course in the future
• after Week 2 grades are posted
    - no refund of course payment
    - no requirement to retake the course in the future if learner is passing as of last grades posted; otherwise, course required to be retaken according to FTTA-OL’s “Failed Course Policy”

Can I get a refund if I need to withdraw due to extenuating circumstances?

If you need to withdraw from a course due to extenuating circumstances after the deadline to drop the course has passed, you can send an email to: office@onlineftta.org, explaining your situation. The FTTA-OL office will review the circumstances and your standing in the program to determine whether the requirement to retake the course can be waived and/or whether the tuition can be reimbursed.

Can I print out the lessons so I can read them at a later time?

Yes, you can print them for your personal study; however, for copyright purposes, nothing you print should be distributed to anyone under any circumstances.

Can I request to be in the same class as another learner or a group of learners?

Yes, groups are invited to sign up and go through the class together. If you would like to take a course together with someone else or with a particular group of learners, each learner must individually send an email to office@onlineftta.org and request to be put into the same class as the other learner(s) listed by name (not, for example, "the other saints from Anaheim"). We must do this to respect the intentions of all the learners involved. We will do our best to accommodate all requests that are received by the Saturday before the term begins. Due to program restraints we may not be able to fulfill some requests.

Can I share the course lessons with others?

You can share portions from LSM materials that we use in the program with others. But learners should never communicate the entire content of any part of the program to anyone (e.g., the content of a whole Web page in a lesson, the content of an FQ, the content of a quiz item, etc.).

Also, of course, anything that a learner would share with others should be done orally only or perhaps in private emails only but definitely not online or in email distribution lists. It is improper for anyone to republish anything published (including the ministry materials) electronically or in print form without prior permission of the publisher (in this case LSM).

Also, learners should never pass on what the other saints have contributed in the forums or what Staff has offered anywhere. These would be violations of other people’s privacy, since everyone in the program is posting with the understanding that what they have posted is for the limited audience of their little class only.

Anything composed by a learner (apart from quotations and paraphrases from other sources) belongs to the learner and can be used by the learner elsewhere without permission from FTTA-OL or LSM.

Can I skip a term?

Yes, you do not have to take courses in consecutive terms. You are welcome to sit out for as long as you like and return at any time as long as you have passed the courses you have taken. If you have failed a course, please see “What if I fail a course.”

Can I take more than one course at a time?

Yes, you can take more than one course per term depending upon your available time and capacity, but most learners take one per term.

Can I use my iPhone, iPad, Android tablet, or smartphone to take classes in FTTA-OL?

The FTTA Online program is not designed to be used with iPhones, iPads, Android tablets, or smartphones. The program involves an extensive amount of thoughtful writing, which would make participation on these devices difficult. The limitations of text input on these devices could encourage short, quick responses which are counterproductive to the whole intention of the program, which is to delve deeply into the materials. Further, not all components of the program are technically compatible with these devices.

D

Do I get a grade in the course?

Yes, each course is graded. You accumulate points each week based on assignments that you complete and submit. Over the eight-week course period the total number of points that can be accumulated is 100. Grades are posted at the end of each week.

Do I have to take the courses in a certain order?

All learners are required to take The Word of God (1) class as their first course in the program. Other than that, unless a course has a prerequisite, you do not have to take courses in any particular order. Some courses in the program are offered in a sequence based on parcels. A parcel is two or three courses within a major course topic (for example, The Body of Christ) that cover the same sub-topic, earlier courses in the parcel being prerequisite to later courses. A detailed description of course parcels and which courses they apply to can be viewed here: https://onlineftta.org/mod/resource/view.php?id=13501.

Do I need any special computer equipment to take a course?

The main thing you will need is a working desktop computer with a reliable internet connection. If you have questions about your iPhone, iPad, Android tablet, or smartphone, please see "Can I use my iPhone, iPad, Android tablet, or smartphone to take classes in FTTA-OL?" A detailed description of what you will need can be viewed under “Technical Requirements” here: https://onlineftta.org/mod/resource/view.php?id=3473.

Do the courses have a teacher or trainer?

A blended group of experienced facilitators leads each FTTA Online class. These serving ones are not a group of experts or teachers but are facilitators who coordinate to foster the learning process and generally facilitate the study of the truth.

Main Functions of the Facilitators:
• Guide the class through the material
• Keep the class on task
• Help learners who are struggling
• Monitor and encourage class progress and participation
• Serve as discussion moderators
• Grade assignments and offer feedback to learners

Do you need a college degree to participate in the FTTA-OL program?

We strongly suggest that all learners have a college degree before enrolling in classes. This and other program requirements can be viewed here: https://onlineftta.org/mod/resource/view.php?id=3473.

Does the FTTA-OL program have a language requirement?

Because FTTA-OL classes involve extensive writing, we require that all learners have the ability both to read and to write comfortably in English. Learning in the classes is collaborative, and insufficient English-language skills will result in frustration not only to the learner but to the entire class. This and other program requirements can be viewed here: https://onlineftta.org/mod/resource/view.php?id=3473.

How do I set my time zone?

All of your assignments are due at the end of the day in your time zone. It is very important to set your time zone correctly. The time zone setting is located on your profile page. You can set it in the following way: Log in to your account and click on your name in the upper right hand corner of your screen. On your profile page click on the "Edit profile" tab and scroll down to "Timezone." This is where you set your time zone. If you do not set your time zone properly, your assignments may be marked late. For information on which time zone to enter, please see: What timezone should I select?

How long is each course?

Each course is eight weeks long.

How long will it take to complete all the courses?

The FTTA-OL program offers five terms per year, and there are thirty courses in the program. If you were to take one course per term, it would take about six years to complete them all. That being said, FTTA-OL is designed with the view that most learners will take one or two courses per year for the next fifteen to thirty years. By the Lord’s mercy, we all will be in His move and His ministry for the rest of our lives, and we hope that many believers will spend these years studying God’s Word and being constituted with the divine truth.

How much does it cost to take a course?

Each course costs US$200.00. Each term the deadline date for early registration is posted on the FTTA-OL site: https://onlineftta.org.

How much time do I need to spend each week in the course?

The classes in FTTA-OL require a minimum of one hour per day and typically can take as many as 10 to 15 hours per week. FTTA-OL classes are asynchronous; that is, you do not have to be online when your fellow-learners are online or at particular times during the week. You can work on the lessons and do the assignments any time, day or night, according to your schedule, as long as they are submitted by the required deadlines. But in order to succeed, you should plan to be online at least one hour per day.

This and other program requirements can be viewed here: http://onlineftta.org/mod/resource/view.php?id=3473.

I

Is the FTTA-OL program available in different languages?

Currently, the FTTA-OL program is only available in English. Other languages are being considered and could be added in the future. Please check back from time to time for details.

Is there a graduation, certificate, or degree offered?

There is no certificate of completion given or graduation offered. The program is designed to give the saints the opportunity to know the basic truths in an educational way, with select courses available each term throughout the year.

Is there any age requirement to take a course?

Because FTTA Online is a training with similar demands as the Full-time Training in Anaheim, we require that all learners be at least 18 years old. This and other program requirements can be viewed here: https://onlineftta.org/mod/resource/view.php?id=3473.

W

What are the courses like?

The courses are eight weeks long, with each week covering a different section of material. You can take a look at a sample week here: https://onlineftta.org/course/view.php?id=78&78=1.

What are the requirements for participating in the FTTA-OL program?

There are both personal and technical requirements. You can see a list of program requirements here: https://onlineftta.org/mod/resource/view.php?id=3473.

What courses should I take?

All learners are required to take The Word of God (1) class as their first course in the program. Other than that, unless a course has a prerequisite, you are free to choose any course you are interested in. You can start in any term (there are five terms per year), and you do not have to take courses in consecutive terms. You are welcome to sit out for as long as you like and return at any time.

What if I fail a course?

A learner who fails a course is required to retake that particular course and pass it in order to continue taking other FTTA-OL courses. However, due to the schedule of course offerings, the failed course may not be offered again immediately. In this case, the learner has the option to take other courses that are being offered while waiting for the failed course to be offered again. But when the failed course is offered again, the learner MUST retake it. If for any reason, the learner does not retake and pass the failed course the next time it is offered, he or she will not be permitted to take any other courses until he or she has taken and passed the failed course. Additionally, if the learner is waiting to retake a failed course and fails a different course, he or she will not be allowed to take any more courses until BOTH courses have been retaken and passed. This could require the learner to wait a period of time (without taking any classes) before the courses are offered again.

For example: I take the Body of Christ (1) course this term and fail it. In the next term this course is not being offered. Because of this, I can take any other course that is offered. I can continue to take any other courses that are offered as long as the Body of Christ (1) course is not offered. However, the next term that the Body of Christ (1) course is offered, I MUST retake it and pass. If for any reason I do not take the Body of Christ (1) course during the next term that it is offered, I can no longer take other courses until I retake the Body of Christ (1) course and pass it. If I fail another course while waiting for the Body of Christ (1) course to be offered, then I can no longer take any courses until both courses have been retaken and passed.

What is UTC?

UTC is "Universal Time Coodine," or "Coordinated Universal Time." It is a time zone.

What timezone should I select?

Because UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) does not take daylight saving time into account, we suggest that learners select a city which they know to be in their timezone. Cities are located in the top portion of the timezone drop-down menu and are arranged by continent/city. For example, if you live in Anaheim, you could select America/Los_Angeles. (On occasion the city may also be listed as continent/country/city or continent/state/city.) If you need any help selecting a timezone, please feel free to contact us at techsupport@onlineftta.org.

Z

z What if a learner becomes disruptive to another learner, a class, or the FTTA-OL program?

While we do not anticipate problems with class disruption in the FTTA-OL program, there may be situations where a learner may intentionally or unintentionally disrupt the progress of other learners in a class. This could include but is not limited to insufficient language skills, discourse that is unrelated to course materials, disclosure of inappropriate personal experiences, personal attacks, or abusive language. The FTTA-OL office retains the right to dismiss or decline reenrollment to any learner that is deemed a disruption to the FTTA-OL program.
